Alarcos Archaeological Park, located between the municipalities of Ciudad Real and Poblete, has unveiled a new immersive experience designed and installed by Fluge Proyectos Audiovisuales as part of a major refurbishment of its visitor reception centre. Combining laser projection, immersive audio and interactive content, the installation offers visitors a new way to explore the site’s rich history.
The project forms part of a wider investment programme focused on improving accessibility, sustainability, digitalisation and visitor services. The refurbishment introduces new exhibition, audiovisual and interactive resources that enhance interpretation of the archaeological site, allowing visitors to discover its different historical periods through an engaging and highly visual experience.
To create the immersive installation, Fluge Proyectos Audiovisuales deployed ten Barco G50-W6 laser projectors fitted with short-throw lenses and dedicated mounting systems. This configuration distributes projected imagery throughout the exhibition space while adapting seamlessly to the venue’s architectural features.
Content playback, composition and synchronisation are handled by two high-performance media servers running Watchout 7. The system includes professional graphics cards, dedicated media storage, high-speed network connectivity, and a tablet-based control interface with programmable control devices.
Video signals are distributed via ten HDMI 2.0-over-IP transmitters connected through a Gigabit network infrastructure and a Wi-Fi 6 access point. The installation also incorporates uninterruptible power supplies to protect equipment and ensure reliable system operation.
The audiovisual experience is complemented by a Bose sound system comprising six surface-mounted loudspeakers and two subwoofers. Carefully positioned throughout the space, the system delivers even sound coverage that enhances the projected content along the visitor journey.
Audio distribution is managed through digital signal processing amplification, an audio matrix with analogue and Dante connectivity, a virtual sound card, and a dedicated network for audio management and distribution.
Working alongside Ibercover Studio, which developed the audiovisual content, the new installation offers visitors a fresh perspective on Alarcos, an archaeological site whose history spans from the Bronze Age to the end of Middle Ages. The immersive experience provides valuable historical context before visitors begin their tour of Cerro de Alarcos, enriching the overall visit.
